Marketing Console Discontinuation FAQ

Marketing Console (MC), the analytics add-on of the PersonalEffect (PE) solution, is being replaced by Circle Analytics. Circle Analytics is free for all PE cross-media solutions and all Circle editions.

As of January 1, 2022, MC is officially deprecated, and a year later in 2023, MC will be discontinued (see the FAQ section below).

Circle Analytics is by no means a 1 to 1 replacement for MC. Circle Analytics offers so much more:

  • Out for the box analytics that requires no time or effort to set up.
  • Customizable Analytics dashboard with built-in KPI gauges.
  • Shareable Analytics dashboard with real-time analytics as well as an API to embed the dashboard in your own applications.
  • Pre-defined list reports with the ability to add ADORs freely, at any stage (with no requirement to flag them for tracking before launching the project).
  • Relative date ranges (with no requirement to redefine the date range every month).
  • Interactive graphs and charts are viewable on mobile devices.
  • Geolocation and devices, source and media, SMS analytics, and call to action (CTA) analytics.
  • Circle Analytics is free for all PE cross-media solutions and all Circle editions.

FAQs

What does this mean that on January 1, 2022, MC is officially deprecated?

  • MC will not be sold or installed in new PE installations and not be included in PE upgrades.
  • The MC application and MC reports will continue to work and be supported until the end of life.
  • For existing customers, MC reports can be accessed, added, deleted, and viewed via the Circle UI. This applies to existing projects as well as new projects until the end of life.
  • From uStore v14.1 and later, Circle Analytics will be available for XM products in NG stores. Legacy stores will continue to show MC reports only.
MC will continue to work for uStore v14.0 and earlier (from uStore v9).
  • uProduce tracking database will still be available for direct querying.

What does this mean that on January 1, 2023, MC is officially discontinued (end of life)?

  • The MC tool and MC reports will no longer be supported.
  • Maintenance and support will no longer be charged for MC.
  • MC reports will no longer be accessible or viewable via the Circle UI. This applies to existing projects as well as new projects.
  • uProduce tracking database will still be available for direct querying.

What do I have in MC that I do not have in the Circle Analytics?

The following are available in MC and are not currently in Circle Analytics (as of January 1, 2021):

  • Recipient Journey report – coming soon to Circle Analytics.
  • Delete tracking – coming soon to Circle Analytics.
  • Comparison reports – under consideration.
  • Group and filter by ADORs – under consideration.
  • Direct access to tracking database.

Does storing tracking data in the Circle data warehouse affect my GDPR compliance?

Circle is GDPR compliant, and so is the Circle data warehouse.

How do I move from MC to Circle Analytics?

Circle analytics is freely available directly from Circle. Simply open an existing project in Circle and click the Analyze tab. The Analyze tab is the dashboard for that project.

Note: Circle Analytics is available from PE v 8.2.3 and above. However, to enjoy all Circle Analytics features we recommend PE v10.2 which includes Web ADORs for automatic tracking of website source and media.
